The cardboard scratcher lounge: the cat claws it, naps in it, and has declared the sofa redundant.

Corrugated cardboard is the texture cats most like to scratch: set beside the armchair, the lounge draws the claws away from the fabric, and the curve takes the nap that follows. Round here it was scratched on the first evening and occupied by the next morning; the armchair has not been consulted since. High-density board that sheds few crumbs, a block you flip when one face is hollowed so it lasts twice as long, and a catnip sachet in the box.

Put the scratcher where your cat already scratches, next to the piece of furniture in question rather than across the house, and sprinkle the included catnip on the surface on day one. Cats stretch when they wake: a scratcher near the sleeping spot gets used far more often. Vacuum the crumbs once a week and flip the block when one face is hollowed out. When both faces are spent, it goes out with the cardboard recycling.
